A little about me

A native Charlottean, Jonathan Clayton has lived his entire life in the Matthews and east Charlotte areas. At UNC-Charlotte, he met his wife, Sara, and after graduation, they married and settled in east Charlotte. Wanting to be closer to family and Jonathan’s work, while also finding a safer place to raise their children, Mackenzie and Ezra, they moved back to Matthews.

Since returning to Matthews, Jonathan has taken an active role in the community. Two years ago he finished his fourth year serving on the Matthews Planning Board. Moving on he joined the Matthews Economic Development Advisory Committee where he has been serving for almost two years.

Jonathan is an avid runner and recognized for co-creating and directing highly successful ultra running events in the area, through his LLC The Stevest. He and his co-director have created events which gained popularity and attracted elite ultra-runners, both local and from other east coast states. His involvement in the running community has made him a well-known figure, and he often can be found running on the trails at Purser Hulsey.

In addition to serving on various boards and participating in the running community, Jonathan has worked for 14 years with Comporium Communications. He began as a GIS Technician and has moved up to the GIS Administrator.
